Can't keep your house warm -- is insulation the answer?

Not by itself. Every home should have insulation. Many homes don't have enough. But conventional insulation by itself cannot ensure every room in your house is comfortable. What makes a home truly comfortable is keeping the warm air inside (and the cold air outside).

How do you do this? By stopping the air (and the heat) from uncontrolled movement through the walls, roof, windows, etc.

When you ask for a home visit our Zerodraft technician, they will first check the insulation in your home to make sure you have the right amount. That means enough to stop conduction of heat from the inside to the outside (and in summer of course from the outside to the inside).

Then, we will look at the air leakage pathways that may be making your indoor living space uncomfortable. We use our Blower Door technology to find every imaginable crack, gap, leak or hole in the outer and inner shell of your home.

Starting in the attic, the Zerodraft technician will check electrical, heating, air conditioning and telephone conduits, ducts, vents, even potlights. Working down through the house, every possible pathway will be checked -- around roof/wall and floor wall joints, windows, doors, electrical outlets, window sills and so on.

Our technician will present you with recommendations as to how Zerodraft Calgary can repair the leaks that are causing comfort problems. Materials and methods might include replacement weatherstripping, new caulking or use of environmentally friendly polyurethane foam sealants. At the same time, you'll receive any necessary advice about extra ventilation that may be needed to ensure the right supply of fresh air in your newly comfortable home.

For the handy man, or the renovator, we can supply the right products and knowlege to make your home(or project) safe, healthy and energy efficent.
